Towards Ault Literacy in India

“To achieve literacy you have to act, feel and live it.” Literacy means empowerment of those who are underprivileged, downtrodden and have no voice. This book is about managing a literacy campaign. It stems from the author’s conviction that without literacy proper development can never take place. The book deals extensively with literacy campaigns for adults but does not intend to ignore the great importance of primary and non-formal education. It is also an advocacy for making literacy and education the basic blocks of the economy. The book is dedicated to all those who share a “madness” for literacy – a single-minded pursuit of the goal can only yield results.
